OUR STORY

Established in 2024 and legalized in 2025, the Gudumale Sustainability Initiative (GSI) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to address sustainability issues through various activities such as community action, awareness creation, project development, training, and advocacy. GSI focuses on promoting sustainable practices to ensure environmental protection, social cohesion, and economic progress within communities.

We aim to tackle sustainability challenges through a multi-faceted approach

Community Action

We emphasizes community action by actively involving local residents in sustainable development projects.

Project Development

GSI undertakes project development initiatives to implement practical solutions for sustainability.

Training and Advocacy

GSI is involved in training and advocacy efforts to empower individuals and communities to become sustainability champions.

We are promoting sustainability and reducing the vulnerability of local communities to natural hazards and socio-economic risks. We focus on:

Climate Change

The need for effective climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies has never been more critical.

Disaster Risk Reduction

In today’s world, where natural disasters are becoming more frequent and severe due to climate change, disaster risk reduction has never been more important.

Waste Management and Pollution Reduction

By implementing proper waste management practices such as recycling, composting, and proper disposal, we can significantly reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills and incinerators.

Environmental Justice

This includes the right to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and enjoy a healthy and sustainable natural environment.

Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA)

CSA aims to sustainably increase agricultural productivity and incomes, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and building resilience to climate change.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

Safe drinking-water, sanitation and hygiene are crucial to human health and well-being.

Indigenous Knowledge

IK is important for sustainable development and environmental conservation. It can include a wide range of knowledge, such as: Ecological knowledge, Agricultural knowledge, and Cultural knowledge.

Renewable Energy

By transitioning to clean, renewable sources of energy, we can reduce our environmental impact and preserve the planet for future generations.

Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)

GESI aims to ensure equal rights and opportunities for all people, regardless of their gender, identity, or background.
