Why partner with GSI
Local roots, national reach
At the grassroots level, GSI implements various initiatives within local communities to address specific sustainability issues in Hawassa City and rural areas of Sidama Region State .These initiatives may include tree-planting drives, lake side clean-ups, recycling campaigns, or water conservation projects. By engaging directly with local residents, GSI can tailor its programs to meet the unique needs and challenges of each community.
On a broader scale, GSI’s advocacy efforts extend to the national level, where the organization works to influence policy decisions and promote sustainable practices on a larger platform. By partnering with government agencies, other NGOs, and international organizations, GSI can amplify its impact and contribute to shaping national agendas on sustainability and environmental protection.
It has been registered and accorded a legal personality from FDRE AUTHORITY FOR CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS with a registry number 7611 on January 03, 2025 as a local organization in accordance with the Civil Society Organization Proclamation No 1113/2019.

Environmental priorities
Work with us across our seven focus areas: climate action, nature and biodiversity, pollution prevention and waste management, environmental justice, water, sanitation and hygiene, renewable and clean energy, and disaster risk reduction.
