Green Ambassadors Climate Awareness Training

Hawassa, January 03, 2026 — Gudumale Sustainability Initiative (GSI), in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Hawassa, successfully organized the Green Ambassadors Climate Awareness Training Program at Hawassa Comboneni High School. The program brought together students, youth clubs, and environmental volunteers to strengthen climate awareness and inspire practical community action.

The training focused on building youth climate leadership, encouraging responsible environmental behavior, and supporting student-led climate initiatives. Participants discussed the realities of climate change, local environmental challenges, and the role of young people in creating sustainable solutions. A keynote speech on climate responsibility and leadership was delivered by GSI’ Executive Director Mr. Melese Alemayehu, who emphasized the importance of youth engagement in protecting ecosystems and promoting sustainable development.


The Rotaract Club of Hawassa showcased its ongoing environmental activities and community service initiatives, motivating students to take part in tree-planting efforts, waste-management campaigns, and school-based environmental clubs. Gudumale Sustainability Initiative highlighted its commitment to ecosystem restoration, climate education, and youth empowerment.
Training sessions also covered climate activism, project design, and student engagement strategies, helping participants learn how to develop and lead impactful climate projects in their schools and communities.

The program concluded with a certificate and photo session, celebrating the new generation of Green Ambassadors committed to environmental responsibility.

This event reflects the strong collaboration between Gudumale Sustainability Initiative and the Rotaract Club of Hawassa in advancing climate education and empowering young leaders across Hawassa and beyond.
